WOW! Spring will be here March 20th! The earth may still be snow-covered, hard and frozen, but we can rest assured that it is teeming with activity underneath the surface. We too, are hard at work preparing a fruitful spring for our congregation.
It was exhilarating to see so many of you at Temple for our Virtual Purim festivities at the end of February. Despite the coronavirus, over 500 people viewed the spiel and many attended our festive Kabbalat Shabbat and reading of the Megillah. The children were thrilled with the community drive-through “CAR”nival at the Brown Stadium. The “The Mamma Mia Megillah” spiel garnered RAVE reviews and was enjoyed by all. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this fabulous production with a special shoutout to Cantor Judy Seplowin, Steven Dulude and Joie Magnone.
This is just one of the many Jewish-centered, religious and cultural experiences we continue to provide for our congregation. While living in the city exposes us to a wide variety of cultural venues, such as theater, the philharmonic, ballet and opera, there are few opportunities to enjoy an evening of Jewish-focused entertainment. This is where Temple Beth-El shines!
Just a few of TBE’s upcoming social and/or Jewish-centered entertainment opportunities on the calendar for the remainder of this year include: “Uighur Wakeup – Tainted Cotton & Collective Responsibility”with Rabbi Barry Dolinger on Wednesday, March 10 at 5 PM, Joint Reform Shabbat Service with Cantor Jeff Klepper on Friday, March 19 at 5:45 PM,“My Hopes and Dreams” with Jim Tobak on Sunday, March 21 at 4 PM and Jake Cohen Cookbook author of“Jew-ish Cooking” in collaboration with Reading with Robin on Tuesday, March 23 at 5 PM. We indeed have something of interest for everyone in our congregation. You can click on each event in this article to register or to get more details. Be sure to check your e-mail, our website, and the Shofar for all the specifics on these events and more!

K'tantan Shabbat Service
Fridays March 12th April 30th 5:15 PM
We are back with a Passover themed K'tantan Shabbat this month via Zoom. Then stay on for Kabbalat Shabbat-all families are welcome!
We are excited to be returning to our roots with monthly Shabbat morning service incorporating study, Torah, and Haftarah readings.
If you’re interested in participating with a reading in Hebrew or English contact Kit Haspel (katherinehaspel@gmail.com).
We will be using Mishkan Tefilah for Shabbat and Festivals for our siddur (prayerbook) and will share a digital link during the service. If you would like to borrow a hard copy, you are welcome to pick one up at the Temple office during our regular business hours. Please call and let us know when you will be coming, to insure everyone’s safety.
