Over the past several months, Upper School and PROVTY have been on quite a ride. We finished our Fall Chugim (electives) which included a cooking class and a class about Israel, and have just begun our Spring Chugim. The areas of learning for the second half of our year are based in the idea that Judaism is not only something we do in the sanctuary or around our Seder table. Instead, it is part of who we are, how we RELATE to our world, how we INTERACT with our surroundings, and how we LIVE OUR VALUES. The opportunities for teens will involve learning about Jews in Popular Culture, including comedy, show-business, news media, the arts, etc. We will also explore how we interact with our world by how we live our values, by being up-standers, anti-racists and thoughtful and analytical consumers.
PROVTY will be spearheading a program that will celebrate a Freedom Seder. The first Freedom Seder (1969) was in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s work which brought African American and Jewish Civil Rights leaders together to share the common history of the journey from slavery and bondage to freedom. PROVTY will be working with other teens in local houses of worship to create our own Freedom Seder to illustrate our communities’ commitments to build bridges and to find common purpose in isolating times.
tbeTEENS@home, our high school speaker program, is looking forward to speaking to Congressman David Cicilline, having a walking tour of the Tel Aviv graffiti landscape, and other uplifting opportunities.
We hope that this Shabbat brings us all rest, separation from a busy week, and time with our family and or loved ones. Most of all, we hope this Shabbat brings us rejuvenation to face a new week, refreshed and ready to meet the challenges in our future.

Shabbat Morning Service
Saturdays February 13th March 13th April 10th 9:00 AM
We are excited to be returning to our roots with monthly Shabbat morning service incorporating study, Torah, and Haftarah readings.
If you’re interested in participating with a reading in Hebrew or English contact Kit Haspel (katherinehaspel@gmail.com).
We will be using Mishkan Tefilah for Shabbat and Festivals for our siddur (prayerbook) and will share a digital link during the service. If you would like to borrow a hard copy, you are welcome to pick one up at the Temple office during our regular business hours. Please call and let us know when you will be coming, to insure everyone’s safety.
