A dear friend and colleague, Rabbi Ariel Friedlander, created a beautiful video for Simhat Torah of colleagues around the world, each cradling a cherished Torah scroll. Even social distancing and strict pandemic protocols could not keep Rabbi Friedlander from imagining and realizing an internationlal hakkafah, a processional with the Torah. I am grateful to have been included (video credit by Judy Moseley) and even more impressed by the ways in which we all have had to stretch our imaginations and produce new ways to pray, to meet, to connect.
