PRIDE Shabbat - Friday, June 2
Join us for a congregational dinner and service featuring keynote speaker, RI State Representative Rebecca Kislak.
Rebecca Kislak is a mom, lawyer, advocate, and State Representative. She is a fierce advocate for the Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities, including by sponsoring legislation to move the presidential primary away from Passover in 2024, and passing laws to protect LGBTQ+ families and their children, including the RI Parentage Act, legislation to ensure access to gender-neutral restrooms wherever there are single-stall restrooms, and more.
As a lawyer for Medical-Legal Partnerships in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, she has represented clients on housing, school, disability and other legal issues that impact their health. As an advocate, she’s fought to expand access to health care and for policies that advance economic justice and equal rights for all Rhode Islanders. As State Representative, she has been championing public schools to empower student, parent and teacher voices and pushing for more improvements and resources from our state. She has been working hard to introduce and support important legislation to protect our environment and has worked actively to increase access and transparency in state government.
Rebecca is an active member of the Providence Jewish community and lives in Providence with her spouse Dr. Joanna Brown and their two children.
