In the 1960s and 70’s, rabbis and scholars began to confront the profound theological implications of the Holocaust. God’s benevolence, power, and authority were now in doubt, as Jews from every stream raised questions about the nature of our covenant. Some rabbis wondered aloud if God was dead. Others alleged that God was hidden and could not be found. Join Rabbi Howard for an exploration of how we have responded to the theological challenges of such an unprecedented tragedy. We will study the meaning of post-Holocaust faith, the evolution of our covenant, the ethics of our choices, and the impact of Israel on our belief systems. It promises to be a provocative and fascinating conversation. You bring lunch and we’ll provide the drinks and dessert.
