Daily Minyan at Temple Beth-El, Providence Rhode Island

Daily Minyan

Dating back to 1955, our daily minyan is the oldest daily minyan in the Reform movement. At the service, individuals say kaddish for the departed and offer solace and comfort to the bereaved. We invite synagogue members to call Rona or Lisa at the Temple Beth-El office, 401.331.6070, with the names of their dearly departed to be read at our services.

We encourage and welcome our congregants to attend the daily minyan service. Open to all, our services offer an ideal opportunity for moments of prayer and reflection after a busy day and to support fellow congregants who are saying kaddish. Held in the Herman L. Bennett Chapel, services begin at 5:45 pm, end at 6:00 pm, and are lay led. Services are held every night except Friday for most of the year. During the period between Shavuot and the end of Simchat Torah, the daily minyan services occur every evening, including Fridays, from 5:45 to 6:00 pm.

Our Clergy Lead

Rabbi Leslie Y. Gutterman arrived in 1970 and became Temple Beth-El’s senior rabbi four years later. He, Rabbi Sarah Mack and Cantor Judith Seplowin lead members of our temple family in worship and such meaningful life cycle ceremonies as brit milah, naming of children, consecration, b'nei mitzvah, confirmation, conversions to Judaism, weddings and funerals. In addition to our daily minyan and regular Shabbat services, we also hold special services. These include monthly family services, when we honor children whose birthdays occur during the month; Shabbat Hallelu, a monthly informal service with guest musicians; and our summer services, Shabbat under the Stars that we hold on the Julie Claire Gutterman Patio. Temple Beth-El offers child care during High Holiday services. Each year, Sisterhood and Brotherhood sponsor a Rosh Hashanah reception and Yom Kippur break-the-fast.
