THE SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE AT TEMPLE BETH-EL
The Social Action Committee at Beth-El sponsors a variety of activities in which congregants reach out to the larger community. A special emphasis is placed on teaching our children the importance of doing mitzvot by giving of themselves. Religious school children participate in Sunday morning food preparation for Crossroads Rhode Island, in sorting food donated by the whole congregation on the High Holy Days and in Mitzvah Day projects which involve their parents and other congregants. Among the beneficiaries of our efforts have been food pantries and the Rhode Island Food Bank, programs that feed people who are homeless, a public library and public parks, a halfway house, a recycling program, the Children's Museum, as well as Camp JORI. We sponsor Social Action Shabbat, and offer many opportunities to make a difference in our community: If
you would like to participate in any Social Action Committee project,
call the temple office at 331-6070. A member of the Social Action
Committee will contact you. Social Action Chairperson, Lenore Levin Piper Shofar Reporter, Alan Axelrod |
