Youth Programs
PROVTY is a group of Temple Beth-El students, grades 9 - 12, that participates with Jewish youth from Reform synagogues, in Rhode and Island and beyond, in creative and engaging activities. PROVTY members participate in purely social events, such as bowling and pizza parties, as well as religious and social action events. As a youth organization with officers and committee chairs, PROVTY offers our high school students meaningful leadership development opportunities. PROVTY, which stands for Providence Temple Youth, is affiliated with the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) for Reform high school students.
Junior PROVTY is a group of Temple Beth-El students, grades 7 – 8, who engages in social and religious activities. Many of these students become active with PROVTY when they begin high school.
Sababah is a group of Temple Beth-El students, grades 4 - 6, who participates in various social and religious activities that supplement and enrich their religious school learning. Many students who participate in Sababah, which means awesome, often become active Junior PROVTY members.
Young Families organizes and hosts Shabbat dinners for families with children in elementary school. These dinners precede the family Shabbat service. These child-friendly dinners and Shabbat services offer families a relaxed environment in which to build community and celebrate Shabbat with the entire family.
K’Tantan offers programs and worship service experiences for families with children under age five, and invites participation from Temple Beth-El families and non-temple families. Once a month, families enjoy K’Tantan Shabbat, an informal participatory Shabbat service, followed by a light dinner; holiday programs include Hanukkah, Purim and Passover celebrations and workshops. Unaffiliated parents with young children may contact Temple Beth-El, 401.331.6070, to add their names and email addresses to the email invitation list. K’Tantan is made possible with funding from the Frances and David Friedman Young Family Fund.
