Helen Donig Talking Books

This group provides books on tapes for individuals who are visually impaired so they may experience the pleasure that reading brings to so many of us.  The taped books can be heard on In-Sight’s  closed-circuit radio and RI Access TV.  Copies of the tapes are available in the William G. Braude Library for members of the congregation or others in the community who need them.  The talking books program has been providing books on tape since it was established in the 1960s.  It focuses its efforts on providing books for the Rhode Island-based organization, In-Sight, that provides services to blind or otherwise visually impaired Rhode Island residents.  Helene Bernhardt funded the program in honor of her mother, Helen Donig.

With changes in technology, tape recordings will likely be replaced with CDs.
